I am having problems with the decreases.

I am doing the small size. When I am done the set up rows to go back to the lace I have the correct amounts 103 stitches. When I finished row 2 of the lace decrease, i have 105 Stitches. What am I doing wrong?

It's done!!!!

My Cherie Amour is finished, and I really like it. I was concerned with the armholes being too tight, but after I wore it for an hour, they loosened up and felt fine.

It fits great, and I got a ton of compliments on it at work. There were a few pattern issues I wish I had known about, but I guess that's what I get for being one of the early group of knitters.

It's a great fit, great sweater, and I'll definitely be making it again in different colors.

Sleeves

Has anyone else noticed the sleeves being both long and tight? I finished seaming mine last night, and the sleeve seams are super tight--they actually have to hit on my upper arm, rather than my shoulder to fit--and the sleeve themselves are too long.

I really don't want to rip it out and do it again, but I might have to.

I got kicked into the bedroom as my husband needed to finish laying the laminate. I am back to where I had ripped out my Cherie Amour, so hopefully I will have more done and soon.

On the sown side I think I broke my baby toe. I walked into the bedroom and straight into the broken wheel on the metal bed frame that we have for our queen size bed. I really hurts and there is nothing that they can do for a broken toe, other than ice and elevation which is what I did. It is turning all kinds of pretty colors. The bright side is I get o knit more.

Have you ever had one of those D'Oh with head slap moments? Well I did lastnight. I was working merrily along, just about done the waist ribbing, when I decide to look at the pattern to find out how many rows of ribbing I have left. I missed the knit row where the decreases happen. So I am sitting chairing this meeting and thinking, okay I can rip back to the lace part and get the lacy area back on the needles, right? WRONG! Arg, I had to rip all the way back to the beginning.

My husband the loving man that he is rewound the 2 balls of yarn, yes that is how much work I had done on it, I cast on again last night and it is going smoothly, again.

I guess it works best if you read the instructions. D'oh (head slap)!

I have finally cast on!

I am loving the design. It is easy once you figure out the repeats. I am doing mine in a real nice twist color. I hadn't read that it was a worsted weight. When I looked up the yarn the typical gauge was for a chunky so I bought chunky.

I am using Bernat Softee Chunky in Tropical Twist, pictured above.This is a very pretty color and will look very nice for my evenings out at the choral concerts that my husband is involved in. He is involved with 2 choirs, the Richard Eaton's Singers and the Da Camera Singers. The RES is an orchestral choir and the Da Camera Singers is a choral choir. So I am concerts almost every month. December is the worst with both choirs performing various Christmas concerts.

Tip: Yarn Substitutions

I received an email from Laura, who stumbled across or KAL and offered this advice on yarn substitutions, since the specified yarn isn't widely available:

I think a lot of knitters are thrown off by "chunky" in the yarn's name, but if you check out the specs, it's actually a worsted weight (4.5 sts/inch) that is knit on large needles for the lacy effect. The waist section could be unflatteringly thick in a chunky weight yarn. I am substituting Malabrigo worsted which seems to be very similar to the original yarn but is far more available and comes in a wide range of colors (and is relatively affordable).

I haven't tried this, so I can't vouch for accuracy, but I thought I'd pass the tip along.

HI! This is my first post here. Yesterday I bought some yarn that I think will work for Cheri Amour! I sure hope so anyway! I wasn't happy with the choices of colors on Handpaints site, so I decided this would work. It's Iceland from Crystal Palace Yarns. I believe the colorway is Ocean. I'm not casting on yet, I have a couple projects I need to finish up first!

I need to figure out my cast on and to find my big stitch markers so I can keep track of the repeats. I have frogged 3 times now. Oh well, I am going to figure it out. I also am working on two items for the hubby.

One Sleeve Down

I finished the first sleeve and wanted to get an idea of how it would look attaced to the sweater, so I pinned it to the body and took some pictures.

I can't believe how quickly this is knitting up! I love the yarn, I love the pattern -- life is good! I even got the exact gauge with size 9 and 13 needles.

Just one little nitpick/warning about the Neckline Decrease chart -- in rows 21 on the right side, the YO and K2tog are switched places, and the same thing in row 23 right above it.

Started on a sleeve today, and I've decided to knit the sleeves in a round -- anything to avoid more seams than absolutely necessary. I cast on with size 9 dpn's and then switched to very short size 13 circulars after the increase. This means making it 1 stitch smaller -- casting on 24 sts., increasing to 30 sts., etc. I'm also planning to do sleeve top shaping later on.

Just one question bothers me -- why do smaller sizes have longer sleeves than the larger sizes? XS sleeves are supposed to be 22" long and 3X sleeves are supposed to be 18" long. This doesn't make sense.

I've made a lot of progress on this:

My stitch counts weren't coming up quite right on the front, but I faked it and I think it's ok. Of course, I was also so tired that i ignored the knit for 6" in pattern part, so I have to go back and do that on the left front. *facepalm*

I'm working on the neckline decrease. No major problems yet!

I started mine two days ago and went to check the gauge last night because ....well it seemed large. The bottom measures 47 inches, I'm making the smallest size. Needles to say 47 inches is way to big for my 34 inch hips so I'm starting over on smaller needles. I will admit I was having trouble measureing my swatch so It's my own fault. Hopefully this time around will go better.

I started Cherie Amour the other day and got a little more than halfway to the waist. It knits up so quickly! I meant to do more last night but other commitments got in the way.

I really like the lace pattern and the way it looks so far.

I haven't started knitting yet but I'm planning to tonight.

Yarn for Cherie Amour

I received my yarn last week. I ordered from handpainted yarn, in the brandy colorway. It's not quite what I expected--a little bit darker, and more brown than pink, but I'm still happy with it.

It's posed with rum, because it happened to arrive on Talk Like a Pirate Day, and what's treasure without rum?
